Common Honda Cooling System Problems and Where to Start

If your Honda outboard is overheating or water flow looks weak, do not keep running it. Start by isolating the most likely failure point below, then confirm fitment by your exact model and serial number.

• Weak or no telltale stream: start with Impellers and inspect for missing vanes, cracks, glazing, or a spun hub. Also check for debris in the inlet and pump housing.
• Overheat alarm or hot cylinder head: check Thermostats for a stuck closed condition and inspect water passages for restriction.
