Water Pump Components | Honda Outboard
Shop Honda outboard water pump components including housings, wear plates, cups, keys, grommets, and related service parts. These components work with the impeller to maintain proper cooling water flow and protect your engine from overheating during maintenance, repair, and rebuild projects.
Choosing the Right Honda Water Pump Components
Water pump components must match your specific Honda outboard model and horsepower range. Always confirm your model and serial number before ordering to ensure correct fitment.
- Pump housing condition: inspect for melting, distortion, or deep scoring before deciding between individual components or a full pump replacement.
- Wear plate and cup inspection: grooved or warped plates can reduce water pressure even with a new impeller.
- Key and drive engagement: verify the impeller key is intact and properly seated to prevent slippage.
- Seal and grommet integrity: damaged seals can cause air leaks and reduced pump efficiency.
- Lower unit service timing: replace worn pump components whenever the lower unit is removed for gearcase service.
Common Honda Water Pump Related Problems
- Overheating after impeller replacement: scored housing or worn wear plate may prevent proper sealing.
- Weak telltale stream: damaged cup, misaligned housing, or air leak on the suction side of the pump.
- Impeller repeatedly failing: housing distortion or excessive friction inside the pump cavity.
- Water pressure drops at higher RPM: worn internal pump components reducing overall flow efficiency.
When servicing the cooling system, inspect all internal pump surfaces carefully. Replacing only the impeller without addressing worn pump components can shorten service life and lead to recurring overheating issues.
