What This Part is Used For
The air filter is installed in the engine's Integrated Air Fuel Module and helps filter incoming air before it enters the engine.
Clean, unrestricted airflow is important for proper combustion, fuel efficiency and engine performance. The filter screen helps keep dirt, debris and other contamination from entering the intake system.
Why Air Filter Condition Matters
Over time, the air filter can become dirty, restricted, damaged or deteriorated from normal engine operation and environmental exposure.
A restricted or damaged filter may interfere with proper airflow and can contribute to:
- Reduced airflow into the engine
- Poor or inconsistent engine performance
- Reduced fuel efficiency
- Dirty intake components
- Air filter material deterioration
Air filters are often overlooked compared with oil filters, fuel filters and spark plugs.
Inspect the filter periodically and replace it if the filter material is dirty, damaged, deteriorated or restricting airflow.
Where is the Air Filter Located?
On these Mercury 75-115 HP EFI FourStroke engines, the filter is shown in the Integrated Air Fuel Module parts diagram.
Mercury identifies the air filter as a single filter per assembly. The older 897575T01 and 897575T02 numbers were superseded by current Mercury OEM part number 8M0082911.
