What This Cylinder Head Gasket Does
The cylinder head gasket seals the joint between the cylinder head and engine block. It helps contain combustion pressure while sealing the cooling and lubrication passages that pass between the two components.
Proper sealing is critical for maintaining compression and preventing cooling water, combustion gases or engine oil from moving between passages where they do not belong.
