The Mercury 8M0199048 Power Steering Pump is the current Gen C Mercury Verado power steering pump and fits all Mercury Verado engines. It can be used as the replacement pump for existing Gen C steering systems or as the foundation for converting an earlier Gen A / Gen B Verado power steering system to the newer Gen C design.

What the Verado Power Steering Pump Does
Mercury Verado power steering systems use an electrically powered hydraulic pump to provide hydraulic assistance to the steering system. The pump supplies hydraulic pressure so steering effort at the helm remains light and responsive even on high-horsepower outboard installations.
The Gen C pump represents the later Mercury Verado power steering design. Boats originally equipped with Gen C can replace the pump with the appropriate Gen C assembly, while older Gen A / B boats can be converted when the required hydraulic and electrical components are installed.
