What This Fuel Pump Does
The square mechanical fuel pump uses pressure pulses from the engine crankcase to move fuel through the outboard's low-pressure fuel system.
Depending on the engine design, the pump may supply fuel directly to the carburetors or feed a fuel reservoir, vapor separator or Optimax fuel system.
Possible Symptoms of a Weak Fuel Pump
- Hard starting or extended cranking
